1. Reviews have entered the wild! Apex Magazine Issue 32 is reviewed by SF Revu, and Nerds in Babeland reviewed Chicks Dig Time Lords.
2. I’m deeply pleased that Catherynne M. Valente’s short story “The Bread We Eat In Dreams,” published in my first issue of Apex Magazine made this year’s Locus Recommended Reading list.
3. Apex Magazine is closing to submissions for the month of March so that we can get through the ones we have.
4. Page proofs for Chicks Dig Comics have been corrected and returned to the publisher, which means that the book is complete from my perspective, until it’s in my hands. This is the first time since 2008 that I haven’t been actively working on a Geek Girl Book. Weird.
5. In my day job, we are at the point where we’re moving from “Yay, we got the grant!” to “Oh, we really need to, yanno, work on the grant now.” We are hiring for a Project Director (it’s a 2-year gig, but it’s a great opportunity to become a Digital Preservation Superstar with Mad Skilz and a Major Publication at the end). We start reviewing applications on February 20th, so get them in!
6. Bonus item: Don’t forget Capricon next weekend! It will be cool. And I’ll be at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library on February 28, too…
