So, Chicago TARDIS happened. *g*

I was relatively restrained while packing this year; only one outfit per day. I was amused, however, that when I wore a red dress on Saturday, people assumed I was cosplaying Lucy Saxon. A couple even asked to take my photo!  Whereas I was claiming to be River Song as a Red Kang, in homage to the group that won the Best Group Cosplay in the masquerade, which included Mel, the Seventh Doctor and Red and Blue Kangs. “Red Kangs are best, darling.”

We had a splendid time. Panels on podcasting (that link goes to a recording thoughtfully provided by the  Adventures in Time Space and Music Podcast!), Chicks Unravel Time, and Chicks Dig Comics went well, as did my live interview on stage with Sophie Aldred. I had two signings, and signed a ton of books. There may be additional recordings appearing. We shall see.

There were large group dinners, lots of hanging out with friends, and a wee bit of booze. As you might expect. 🙂

All of the guests were generally lovely, which was nice. It is always lovely to see Sophie and Sylvester McCoy, who were also quite happy to have a chance to see each other. Sylv had to leave around noon on Sunday to head to New Zealand for the premiere of The Hobbit. He’s playing Radagast the Brown in the films, and one of the most popular glossies sold at the convention featured him dressed as Radagast in front of a TARDIS.

Mark Ayres, who single-handedly rescued a ton of classic series sound effects, and has been patiently working with the Restoration Team to clean up classic series episodes, was an absolute darling. He thought I looked like Lady Edith from Downton Abbey. *g* We had lots of lovely conversations.

I kind of fanned a bit at Andrew Cartmel because his era of classic Who is my favorite. He didn’t seem to mind overly much.

Burn Gorman (Owen from Torchwood) was an absolute sweetheart, and was rocking some properly geek-chic glasses. I managed to get up the gumption to introduce myself while pouring hot water for tea in the green room (and managed not to spill any on him, either). His panels were great, too.

Everyone left the dealer room happy. Caitlin scored a squishy huggable TARDIS. I now have a TARDIS keychain, and MY RORY ACTION FIGURE. Which Toby Hadoke then used as a prop for his Saturday evening performance of My Stepson Stole My Sonic Screwdriver. Michael picked up one of the last copies of Wiped, about the history of the BBC wiping early episodes of Doctor Who.

Michael also had his first signing, for his essay about The Five Doctors  in Outside In. 

Caitlin, who was with us on Thursday and Sunday, and spent Friday and Saturday with Grandma, Aunt Kathy, and Uncle Tony (Thanks again!)  was very excited to get her photo taken with Sylvester McCoy, as well as with Anjli Mohindra (Rani in The Sarah Jane Adventures). Anjli was really sweet with Caitlin, too.

But, mostly, it was lovely to reconnect with old friends, and connect more with newer friends. I had a relatively light schedule this time around, which meant lots more hangout time, even if I did pumpkin out before I managed to do karaoke.
