WorldCon Schedule! (The beginning, anyway)

This is my initial WorldCon Schedule. It is not the combined Thomas Family Schedule, and it does not include a bunch of meetings/meals/etc. with people that I’ve yet to schedule. Nor, alas, does it yet contain a live SF Squeecast recording. We’re hoping that gets added (request has been made), but we’ll see.  ETA: Squeecast live recording added! See below on FRIDAY.

Caitlin is attending WorldCon with us. We will be working on care arrangements for the Caitlin Caregiver Volunteer Brigade (TM) folks who have let us know that they’d like to help via email in the next week or so. (We were waiting until everyone had their schedules).

We are driving, and plan to arrive late in the afternoon/early evening on Thursday.

These are the places where you will definitely find me publicly, being public.

FRIDAY

Friday 11:00 – 12:00 Fans and Academia

Does fandom make SF studies different from the study of other genres? Is the influence of fandom more than just the occasional quote from a fanzine in academic papers?

Cathy Clamp (M) , Lynne M. Thomas, Christopher McKitterick  , John Kessel

Friday 13:00 – 14:00 Meet the New Doctor: Helen Mirren

How much longer do we have to wait for gender parity in the Whoverse? What will happen if the regenerated Doctor is female, and who should play the role?

Julia Rios (M) , Lynne M. Thomas  , Matthew Johnson  , Juliet Bruce

Friday 6:00-7:00 PM: SF SQUEECAST LIVE RECORDING (Room 003B). Watch us melt down in public! Live! for your entertainment!

MONDAY:

Monday 10:00 – 11:00 Looking After the Writer’s Legacy

What are you going to do with your papers? There are libraries in Canada and the US and the UK that specialize in taking care of the papers of SF writers and fans. The Cushing Library at Texas A&M has George R.R. Martin’s papers — should yours join them?

Melissa Conway (M), Lynne M. Thomas , Paul Herman  , Todd Samuelson

Monday 11:00 – 12:00 Doctor Who: Celebrating 50 Years

Doctor Who turns 50, and we’ve had a year of not only new episodes but specials, novels about all the Doctors, audio production, comics, and more. What’s ahead for the next 50?
